> WHAT'S NEXT AFTER COMP CREW?
We run the Competent Crew courses so that once you’ve got the certificate, you are that, competent crew! You know what (almost) everything is called, the procedures for all the various operations and maneuvers, and you feel more at home!
It is the first step in various different directions for what can be available to you.
Race Crew,
Support for friends or family on a summer holiday charter,
Skippering your own boat
Why not gain some more experience by taking part in one of our exciting mile builders (more information here and here).
We also love racing - it’s a great way to learn all the different stations on the boat. We have planned some race training, as well as some exciting racing (check out the races we have entered by clicking on the “2022 Races” link in the header of this page).
The Course Details:
No experience required
Recommended minimum age is 12
Must total 5 days (can be split over 2 or 3 weekends)
COURSE AIMS:
Experience living on a yacht and visit different ports each night. Learn the fundamentals of handling a boat under sail and under engine. Learn to:
- handle sails,
- tie knots,
- become a useful member of crew.
Go for some night sailing, learn how to safely use the galley while at 30º of heel, and oh so much more. You can read about the whole syllabus here.
