OVERVIEW
Round the Island is a great day on the water. As well as competing against Olympic, world-class and weekend sailors, there will be the opportunity to race against other Sigma 38s in this one-design class – and the Sigma skippers are a competitive bunch. With most of us racing on our home turf, the jostling around each leg of this race is absolutely cracking which is what makes it one of our race skippers favourites!
We have completed the Round the Island Race many times and, using our experience of what has worked well for us in the past, we have put together a package to ensure we are as competitive as possible.
The race often sees a variety of conditions which means that boats of all shapes and sizes are in with a chance of winning the race with over 1400 entries and 16,000 competitors. This makes it one of the largest sporting events in the country and one of the largest yacht races in the world.
The Race itself is also only part of the appeal. Cowes and the Solent offer a fanstastic bustling atmosphere, live music, beer tents, Cowes knows how to turn into a Festival venue and never disappoints!
